The Marianist Brothers and Priests are part of the Marianist Family Founded by Blessed William Joseph Chaminade. In Eastern Africa, we are active in Kenya, Malawi and Zambia
We have four ministries in Kenya. We serve at Our Lady of Nazareth primary school. We operate IMANI - Marianist which includes a counseling and job training center for youth and a nursery school for clients in the job skill training and a business development wing.
Both OLN and IMANI are in Nairobi. In Mombasa we have the Marianist Development Project, a trade school similar to IMANI. We also serve in St. Martin Parish. MDP and St. Martin Parish are on the same property in Bombolulu on the North Cast.
The Marianists in Zambia serve youth at Matero Boy Secondary School. The community also keeps close links with the graduates of the school. In addition to the school ministries, the Marianist religious in Karonga and Lusaka serve the local church by sharing the Sunday Eucharist their neighbors at St. Joseph Chapel on the Matero school grounds.
The independent Region of East Africa was inaugurated on Pentecost Sunday, 23 May 2010.
In Malawi we minister in Chaminade Secondary School and at M.I.R.A.C.L.E. The latter project serves youths orphaned by AIDS who have not yet completed the second year of secondary school. The project adapts the activities developed at IMANI to trades useful in a rural setting.
Our ministries include both formal and informal education, social services and clerical services.
